The Health Education project

MULTIMEDIA HEALTH EDUCATION

Starting in our Centenary Year, the Home of Service initiated a Pioneering Multimedia Health Education Program with a vision of reaching the youth and the vast masses under-served by health services.

By 2007, we have built a functioning multimedia product development lab, produced 9 multimedia health education presentations & 20 publications, worked with 330,000 participants from schools, villages and slums in districts of Eastern UP and are now expanding with intensive health workshops and mobile libraries

Need

THE NEED IN INDIA

The reality of Public Health in India is meagre & heavily strained curative services, with millions having no access to any health resource of quality, epidemics of Malnutrition (under as well as over) as well as Infectious Diseases.

Health Education Works!!!

Most health issues can be addressed by effectively designed and communicated Health Education.

Hence our Multimedia-based Health Education project!

DISSEMINATION
330,000 participants of multimedia presentations to date - students, villagers, slum dwellers.
Over 1,000 participants in intensive workshops.
4 mobile Dissemination Teams working in hundreds of schools, colleges and villages across Eastern UP, India.
Next Step

VISION & CHALLENGES
Expansion to 100 mobile Dissemination Units covering 10 million students, villagers and slum-dwellers across India.
Developing Web-based infrastructure and a Training Institute for Health Educators with certification, support and monitoring services.

Networking with like-minded health NGOs for rapid scaling up of Health Promotion activities.
Mobile Education Camps, including attention to needs of specially challenged populations. Research and Development in Health Education.
